Campervan Conversion Electrical Technician
Join the team at Brown Bird and Company – specialists in award winning hand-built Land Rover Defender campervans, Mercedes Sprinters and VW T6/T7 campervans.
Do you have a knack for building, and problem-solving? Are you experienced in auto electrics, electrical systems, particularly with campervans, or motorhomes? If so, we’d love to welcome you to our growing workshop.
Key Responsibilities
- Installing full 12v and 230v electrical systems, campervan appliances, handmade lighting, and accessories such as laser lights, winches and compressors
- Plumbing, gas and diesel heater installations
- Collaborate with our design team to integrate systems into custom layouts
- Ensure all installations meet safety regulations and industry best practices
- Carry out pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and routine servicing.
- Stay up to date with emerging campervan technology and conversion techniques
You’ll work hands-on across a variety of installations and vehicle enhancements. Your role is an essential part of our build process ensuring our customers drive away with a fully equipped, high-specification campervan.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in auto electrics and/or plumbing (ideally both)
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds) are a bonus but not essential
- Keeping accurate job records and working to industry standards
- Clean and tidy work ethic, competent and safe with power tools in a busy workshop
- A strong eye for detail and commitment to quality workmanship of the highest standard
- Problem-solving mindset and the ability to work independently
- Friendly, team-oriented attitude with great communication skills
- A passion for campervans and the outdoor lifestyle is a big plus
Essential Skills
You should demonstrate strong transferable skills, including accuracy, consistency, sound judgment, and efficiency, with a diligent approach to your work. Personally, you will bring a positive, adaptable, and cooperative attitude, and be able to follow directions effectively from your line manager.
Rate & Employment Terms
- Pay: £14/hr upwards dependent on experience and qualifications
- Basis: Initially self-employed, then permanent employed role for the right person
